Introduction and underlying principles

This policy outlines the procedures for disclosure of interests and management of conflicts of interest (COI) for the Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care ("Task Force"). This policy draws on an analysis of best practices in the international guidelines community and medical journal policies, and follows the Guidelines International Network (GIN) Principles on the disclosure of interests and management of COI.

Scope

This policy contains recommendations that apply to all current and future members of the Task Force, regardless of their discipline or the stakeholders they represent. The policy also provides an overview of the procedures followed by groups and individuals providing external support to the Task Force:

  • Invited content experts (advisors)
  • External stakeholders and peer reviewers
  • GHGD staff at PHAC
  • Evidence Review and Synthesis Centres (ERSCs)
  • Knowledge Translation Program, St. Michael's Hospital
